Yuval Sharon has amassed an unconventional body of work that expands the operatic form. He is founder and Artistic Director of The Industry in Los Angeles and the newly appointed Gary L. Wasserman Artistic Director of Michigan Opera Theatre. With The Industry, Mr. Sharon has directed and produced new operas in moving vehicles, operating train stations, Hollywood sound stages, and various “non-spaces” such as warehouses, parking lots, and escalator corridors. From 2016-2019, Mr. Sharon was the first Artist-in-Residence at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, creating nine projects that included newly commissioned works, site-specific installations, and performances outside the hall. His residency culminated in a major revival of Meredith Monk’s opera ATLAS, making him the first director Monk entrusted with a new production of her work. The first American ever invited to direct at Bayreuth, Mr. Sharon distinguished himself with a boldly progressive Lohengrin in 2018, using subtle dramatic direction to completely overhaul the opera into a critique of entrenched power structures. He is the recipient of the 2014 Götz Friedrich Prize in Germany for his production of John Adams’s Doctor Atomic. He also directed a landmark production of Song Books at the San Francisco Symphony and Carnegie Hall. Soprano Amina Edris has been hailed as a “revelation” (Forum Opera) and praised for her “lustrous” tone (Opera News). Born in Egypt and raised in New Zealand, she has blended her cultural background to create her own unique artistic identity, making her one of opera's most intriguing young stars. Amina 22/23 begins her season as Cleopatra in the world premiere of Antony and Cleopatra at San Francisco Opera. In Germany, she performs the title role in Massenet’s rediscovered opera Ariane with the Bayerischen Rundfunks, and makes her debut as Marguerite (Faust) at Opéra de Limoges, followed by Manon at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, and returns to the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées as Musetta (La bohème). Previously, Amina performed Manon (Manon) to great critical acclaim at the Opéra de Bordeaux and reprised the role at Opéra de Paris, debuted the role of Adalgisa (Norma) at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, performed the role of La Folie (Platée) at Opéra national de Paris, made her debut as Alice (Robert le diable) at Opéra national de Bordeaux, performed Juliette (Roméo et Juliette) at the San Francisco Opera, and Violetta (La Traviata) at Opéra de Limoges and the Canadian Opera Company.

American soprano Ann Toomey, whom Naples Daily News proclaimed, “…is a brilliant Floria Tosca…[whose] rich voice projects power that doesn't disintegrate under adversity” is a former member of the Ryan Opera Center at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, a 2016 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions national semifinalist and 2019 Richard F. Gold Career Grant Recipient. Recently, she made her European debut, to critical acclaim, performing the title role in Suor Angelica at the Berlin Philharmonie, under the baton of Kirill Petrenko. In the 2022-2023 season, Ms. Toomey will return to Wolf Trap Opera to perform the title role in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah, Tosca with Livermore Valley Opera, the title role in Tobias Picker’s Emmeline with Tulsa Opera, and Ortlinde in Act III of Die Walküre with Detroit Opera. In the 2021-2022 season, Ms. Toomey made house and role debuts as Tosca with Opera Naples and Sarasota Opera, performed Lady Billows in Albert Herring with the Princeton Festival, the title role in Die Kathrin with the Chicago Folks Operetta and returned to the Lyric Opera of Chicago as the Lady in Waiting cover in Macbeth. During the 2018-2019 season, she performed as Musetta in La bohème with Lyric Opera of Chicago, completing her three-year residency with the Ryan Opera Center. She debuted at Lyric Opera of Chicago as First Lady in Die Zauberflöte and was also seen as the Fifth Maid in Elektra. She covered several roles during her time in Chicago, including Elettra (Idomeneo), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), and Micaëla (Carmen). Ann Toomey is a native of Detroit, and currently lives in Chicago.
