Spencer Hamlin

Tenor Spencer Hamlin was praised by Opera News for his “scintillatingly smooth” and “dazzling Italianate voice.” In 2023, he made his Metropolitan Opera debut singing the Marschallin’s Major-Domo in Der Rosenkavalier. He debuted at the Santa Fe Opera as Spoletta in Tosca, and sang Poulenc’s Messa di Gloria with the York Symphony and Three Tenors! The Next Generation with the Vallejo Festival Orchestra. In 2024, he returned to Santa Fe Opera as the Innkeeper and covered Valzacchi in Der Rosenkavalier. Other engagements have included Salt Marsh Opera for multiple roles in The Child and the Spells, the York Symphony for Mendelssohn’s “Symphony-Cantata” Hymn of Praise, and the New York premiere of Nicolas Flagello’s rarely produced operatic masterpiece, Beyond the Horizon, with Teatro Grattacielo. He performs the role of Pablo in the world premiere of The Tin Angel by composer Daniel Asia and librettist Paul Pines, joins West Edge Opera as the Captain in Wozzeck, and makes company debuts as Goro in Madama Butterfly at Lyric Opera of Kansas City and Nick in The Girl of the Golden West with Detroit Opera. The busy artist also enjoyed a critical success as tenor soloist in Verdi’s iconic Requiem with the York Symphony. In 2026, he returns to Santa Fe Opera as Monostatos in Die Zauberflöte.

In 2022, Spencer sang Mr. Angel in The Impresario with Syracuse Opera, and Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Alfredo Germont in La traviata with Opera Theater of Connecticut.
