Madison Montambault
Praised by Indy Maven as a “powerhouse sure to entertain and inspire,” and by Opera Canada for her “enthusiastic and attractive singing,” American-Canadian dramatic soprano Madison Montambault recently made her debut with Opera Birmingham as Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana in spring 2026.
Her career spans North America, with leading and supporting roles at Indianapolis Opera, Sarasota Opera, Dayton Opera, Edmonton Opera, Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings, and Opéra de Montréal. Internationally, she made her European debut at Teatru Manoel with Opera on the Avalon, where she also premiered Marguerite, a monodrama by Juliana Hall.
Madison is the recipient of numerous honors, including being named a 2026 grantee of the Olga Forrai Foundation; a finalist in the 2024 International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition; a semifinalist in the 2023 George & Nora London Foundation Competition; the Third Prize winner of the 2022 Edmonton Opera Rumbold Vocal Prize; a Central Regional Finalist and two-time prizewinner of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition; a semifinalist in the 2022 Premiere Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition and the Opera Tampa D’Angelo Young Artist Vocal Competition; and a two-time semifinalist in the American International Czech & Slovak Voice Competition.
She has completed residencies with the young-artist programs at Sarasota Opera and Indianapolis Opera. A Michigan native, she holds both Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees in voice performance from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance.
She is thrilled to join the Detroit Opera Resident Artist Program for the 2026–27 season, where she will cover the title role in Tosca.
