
Tenor Chaz’men Williams-Ali’s current season includes his return to Washington National Opera as First Prisoner/Florestan (cover) in Fidelio, his appearance with New York Festival of Song in a special project titled My Brother’s Keeper, his Puccini recital with Chicago Opera Theater, and his debut in Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde with Wisconson Youth Symphony.
Recent highlights include Cavaradossi in Tosca at Cedar Rapids Opera, Nate in Highway 1, USA in his Los Angeles Opera debut, his return to Rodolfo in La bohème at Florentine Opera, and his Metropolitan Opera debut as Zorn in Die Meistersinger and Spinner (cover) in Fire Shut Up in My Bones, a role he inaugurated in the original production at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis in 2019. He sang Narraboth in Salome at Madison Opera and Rodolfo at Kentucky Opera following his work as principal tenor at Theater & Orchester Heidelberg in Germany where he appeared as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Florestan, Canio in Pagliacci, Tebaldo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, and Der Prinz in Rusalka.
The artist made an international debut when he joined English National Opera for the roles of Robbins and Crab Man in Porgy and Bess in their co-production with the Metropolitan Opera and Dutch National Opera, roles he also sang in Amsterdam. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, the artist began his studies at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School, went into Opera Theatre of Staint Louis’s Artists-in-Training Program for two years, and then studied voice at the University of Iowa School of Music.
