Current and most recent projects of American bass-baritone Justin Hopkins include Sarastro in The Magic Flute, Hobo in Love Life (Opera North), Angelotti in Tosca (Cincinnati Opera), Publio in La clemenza di Tito (Wiener Festwochen, Grand Théâtre de Genève), Antron McCray in Anthony Davis’s The Central Park Five (Detroit Opera), Carl Ekdahl in the world premiere of Mikael Karlsson’s Fanny and Alexander (La Monnaie), Bernstein’s Songfest (Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra), Zuniga in Carmen (Austin Opera), Narumov in Pique Dame, Gralsritter in Parsifal, a new production based on Verdi’s Rivoluzione e Nostalgia (La Monnaie), a collaboration with choreographer Jermaine Spivey, Colline in La bohème (Opera Ballet Vlaanderen), and Haydn’s Die Schöpfung (Los Angeles Master Chorale at Walt Disney Concert Hall).

Notable past appearances were with Theater St. Gallen, Glimmerglass Festival, Opera Philadelphia, and the Verbier Festival. In concerts he has appeared with the George Enescu Festival, Boston Pops, Philly POPS, Grand Rapids Symphony Pops, Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, Bard Music Festival, MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra, and BBC Concert Orchestra in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Boston’s Symphony Hall, and London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. He has worked with conductors Charles Dutoit, Valery Gergiev, Keith Lockhart, Leon Botstein, Alejo Pérez, Anthony Barrese, Paul Daniel, Paul McCreesh, Paolo Carignani, and Jerome Shannon. He is a prizewinner of the 2012 Lotte Lenya Competition.
