
Rasean Davonté Johnson is a video artist and designer of projections for theater, film, and installations. He is owner of the Chicago-based practice eightinfinitystudio specializing in design, video engineering consultation, and content creation for the performing arts. For his work as a theatrical designer he has been awarded the Michael Maggio Emerging Designer Award in 2018 and the Joseph Jefferson Award for Projection Design in 2022 and 2019. Additionally, he was a part of Opera America’s 2017 Robert L.B. Tobin Director-Designer Showcase in Dallas. His design work includes collaborations with numerous institutions including Houston Grand Opera, Portland Opera, Toledo Opera, and Chicago Opera Theater, and internationally with Ningbo Song and Dance Ensemble (China), B-Floor Theatre (Thailand), and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Scotland). He received his MFA from Yale University, and is the Director of Design for Theater and Performance Studies at the University of Chicago.
