Woody

Woody is a five-year-old Golden Retriever with a mix of Labrador, originally raised in Rochester, Michigan. He was originally trained as a guide dog, prepared for a future in service work. Currently, Woody and his owner are a certified therapy dog team through Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs, Inc., with national recognition by the AKC. They are also active members of the local Fur Angels group. Woody is trained to provide comfort, emotional support, and companionship to individuals in settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and special events. Unlike service dogs, who perform specific tasks for individuals with disabilities, therapy dogs like Woody offer non-medical support, helping to alleviate emotional distress and promote healing. Woody takes great joy in offering “free hugs” to those in need, often carrying around his favorite blanket as he spreads comfort and joy wherever he goes. In his downtime, he enjoys playing with his fox terrier brothers, indulging in cheese, and collecting socks. Woody is eagerly anticipating his adventure at the Detroit Opera House, where he looks forward to continuing to bring smiles and comfort to all he meets.
