Tailored for intermediate to advanced dancers ages 12 and up, this 90-minute session immerses participants in the hallmark vocabulary of Paul Taylor’s movement language—grounded yet expansive, structured yet expressive. Dancers will experience the dynamic contrasts that define Taylor’s work: release and control, gravity and flight, stillness and momentum. Through rigorous phrasework and thoughtful coaching, you’ll refine your technique, deepen your musicality, and explore how intention transforms movement into meaning.

Guided by a PTDC artist, you’ll gain insider insight into the company’s rehearsal process and artistic philosophy—an opportunity to embody the legacy and innovation that continue to shape contemporary modern dance around the world.

Requirements/Information:

• This class is geared toward dancers at the intermediate to advanced level | Ages 12 and up
• Masterclasses are free with a ticket purchase to that weekend’s performances (or $15 without a ticket purchase).
• Classes are held in the Margo V. Cohen Center for Dance in the Ford Center for Learning at the Detroit Opera House.
