OPERA
Collaborative Voice Studio
The Detroit Opera Collaborative Voice Studio (DOCVS) is proud to play a vital role in bringing exceptional arts education to Detroit’s youth. Designed for passionate high school singers, this unique program provides high-level vocal training, mentorship, and performance opportunities, all at no cost to participants. DOCVS nurtures each student’s individual talent through personalized one-on-one lessons held across two semesters. Our expert instructors offer guidance across a wide range of vocal repertoire, from classical to contemporary, ensuring students receive a well-rounded and inspiring musical education.

Vocal Masterclasses
Detroit Opera offers in-school masterclasses led by distinguished professionals, providing students with expert guidance in vocal technique and artistic interpretation. Through individualized coaching and real-time feedback, these sessions support the development of intermediate and advanced-level vocal music students. This program offers a unique opportunity to learn from some of the most exciting emerging and esteemed talents in today’s opera world.

Summer Programs
Our summer programs for ages 8-18 give students the chance to write, compose, and star in operatic performances. In our innovative Create & Perform Program for ages 8-12, young artists compose their own stories, dances, and music. Our Operetta Remix program for ages 13-18 enables students to take their talent to the next level with intensive teaching in singing, acting, movement, and audition techniques.

Opera Teens
Pursue your passion and connect with others who share your love of opera and dance! Opera Teens brings together a network of young fans and gives you opportunities to attend performances and explore careers in opera and the arts.
TEENS
Night at the Opera
This new initiative invites high school and college students to attend final dress rehearsals of mainstage operas throughout the season. Students and their teachers are provided with a study guide to help prepare for and reflect on their opera experience.
