Touring operas
Detroit Opera can come to you!
Let the artists of the Detroit Opera Touring Ensemble perform a one-act opera, musical revue, or concert for your school! Our programs are for all audiences and last 45 to 60 minutes.
Our performances qualify for grant assistance from the Michigan Humanities Council.
Collaborative Voice Studio
Through our new partnership with Detroit public schools, we provide free voice lessons to help students develop their talent and creativity. Up to 22 students receive one-on-one weekly lessons over a 16-week period.
Their studies culminate in a Solo & Ensemble Festival. Graduates of the program receive full scholarships to attend our Operetta Remix summer program.
Field trips
Students can attend select dress rehearsals and tour our magnificently restored Detroit Opera House, including backstage areas not accessible to the public.
Students will learn about the history, architecture, and restoration of our historic venue—and about careers in the arts, such as stage management, costume design, lighting design, ticketing, marketing, public relations, and house management.

Summer programs
It’s your turn! Our summer programs for ages 8-18 give students the chance to write, compose, and star in operatic performances.
In our innovative Create & Perform Program for ages 8-12, young artists create their own stories, dances, and music. Our Operetta Remix program for ages 13-18 enables students to take their talent to the next level with intensive teaching in singing, acting, movement, and audition techniques.

Pursue your passion and connect with others who share your love of opera! Opera Teens brings together a nationwide network of fans and gives you opportunities to attend performances and explore careers in opera.
